Qualifications include 2-3 years experience in sales, and previous experience in media sales is a big plus.
This role will involve heavy warm and cold calling, setting up meetings and presenting the company's advertising solutions to publishers, independent authors, and other book industry professionals and organizations. You will be continuously working to build client relationships and manage pipelines and leads. You will also be responsible for managing ad delivery, scheduling, and trafficking of materials for print, online, and email campaigns.
In addition to leading our advertising sales activities, the sales and advertising associate will consult with potential customers interested in author services, such as book reviews for self-published authors. Marketing AssociateFull Time (Austin)
Kirkus Media is seeking a marketing associate with graphic design and web marketing skills to join our marketing team. Ideal candidates will be motivated individuals interested in joining a team that's quickly growing a highly regarded literary journal into an innovative solution for consumer online book discovery and author services.
This role will support all marketing initiatives within Kirkus including PPC, SEO, social media, PR, and graphic design for the magazine, Kirkus Reviews, and the website as well. Candidates should be proficient in Photoshop (Indesign a plus) with a solid understanding of design. Web marketing experience is a plus, but the candidate must understand what SEO, PPC, and social are, and what they mean for web marketing results.
Requirements:
Work with the marketing and sales teams to design web components and ads
Help with market research & analysis and creative brainstorming
Help plan event and tradeshows including promotional materials, giveaways, and logistics
Help develop and maintain collateral library, keeping all materials up to date and consistent
Help maintain messaging and product marketing across different advertising and marketing channels
Help develop and execute on reporting using Salesforce, Google Analytics, iContact, and others
Liaison to customer service, supporting the day to day duties and challenges
Responsible for growing and managing all social media channels
Assist with public relations
Assist with online marketing including SEO, PPC, and social media
Assist with other marketing and sales tasks as needed
The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, advertising or related
Ability to use Photoshop comfortably is required, Graphic design skills and/or experience needed
(Ability to use Indesign is a plus)
Experience managing PPC campaigns
(keyword research, bid management, budgeting, maintaining ROI metrics) and retargeting
Foundational understanding of SEO
Prior experience using web analytics software (Google Analytics)
Computer and web savvy, some HTML knowledge helpful

Senior Web UX Developer Full Time (Austin)
Kirkus Media is hiring a Senior Web UX/UI Developer to join the Austin, TX based team. This position is for an individual contributor in a hands-on role. S/he will be responsible for prototyping and implementing web application user interfaces using modern web-development best practices. The position requires creativity as well as excellent technical, interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently, within a small, cross-disciplinary team. An interest in books and publishing is preferred.
Requirements:
Responsible for all front-end / UI development
Work directly with staff, customers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver usable solutions
Create interaction mockups and wireframes for new features
Create functional prototypes to explore design ideas and test interactions
Document customer- and functional-requirements
Implement front-end code (HTML, templates, CSS, JavaScript)
Own cross-browser testing and support
Work with the marketing team to support analytics and market testing
Ensure the delivery of high-quality, performant, front-end code and graphics
Translate designs into functional Django templates
Skills:
Producing clean, standards-compliant, and reusable HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Strong time management, estimation, and prioritization skills

Kirkus is hiring a Web Developer to join the Austin, TX based team. S/he will be responsible for the tools and infrastructure used to operate, monitor, build, and deploy all Kirkus web properties. Requirements:
Keep the infrastructure running (24x7)
System backups, updates, recovery, and security
System monitoring and reporting
Deliver cost-effective infrastructure scaling
Recommend infrastructure changes based on business needs
Provide efficient and effective infrastructure for development
Expand and develop tools for build-, test-, and deployment-automation
Provide internal support for Admin/CMS/website (to staff, editors, customer service, etc.)
Provide QA for backend systems
Contribute to bug fixing and feature development (in Python/Django)
Skills:
Experience administrating remote and/or cloud infrastructure (AWS experience preferred)
