CHILDHOOD'S END (reviewed on August 1, 1953)
A futurama projects the end of the world when an invasion by the Overlords brings their unchallenged control of life on earth. And although their surveillance is benevolent, a few- in the successive generations- speculate on this new and secret species. Stormgren is first pressured into an investigation; Jan, some decades later, after a paranormal communication, attempts to find their world above, and the extrasensory experiences of a child presage the Total Breakthrough and the dissolution of man and his planet. An intelligent and imaginative use of cosmic concepts for a takeoff in time and space.
