For six days, constant companion Barney (a teddy bear) is in the thick of every one of his small mistress's misdemeanors: on Monday, they fall into the same mud; on Thursday, Barney somehow gets on the library escalator and has to be chased; and so on- -each escapade a normal part of an active preschooler's day of discovery. But Sunday is different: Barney and the little girl are tired, so they read stories, tidy, take a nap—and ``My mother and father were very pleased. But my brown bear Barney was bored.'' The simple, well-honed text nicely sums up the richness and variety in an imaginative child's daily round; Fuller, who also illustrated My Brown Bear Barney (1989), again provides appealing, cleanly designed illustrations of the irrepressible charmer and her bright-eyed bear. Just right for the lap-sitter or preschool group. (Picture book. 3-7)
