THE ANIMALS AND THE ARK

Karla Kuskin assembles all the animals in pairs for her verse rendition of the Noah story. Elegant and highly stylized drawings convey the feeling of the space and timelessness of Noah's world. And without departing from the gentle rhythm of her verse, she portrays the growing tension in the cramped ark and its subsequent relief when the sun finally breaks through. There is a nice adherence to biblical simplicity here, in the telling of a story which has universally entertained young readers. Reenforced binding.
