From pathologist Vega and this Oakland, California–based small press: an Earth-in-peril yarn, following the honorable tradition of science fiction disaster yarns from H.G. Wells on up. The cause of the disaster, as if you hadn't guessed, is a comet impact that blasts North Africa and wipes out a large proportion of all life on the globe. After the impact's blast, earthquakes, tidal waves, etc., comes a mini–ice age, then an equally ruinous global warming. Still, survivors dotted about North America cling to existence. With writing like “ ‘Dead! Billions are dead!’ cried the commentator,` it's not likely to win any prizes for style, but global-catastrophe junkies should find something to chew on here.
