KIRKUS REVIEW

In the ``Let's Talk About'' series, an ineffective attempt to answer the questions young children ask about death. Text and photos here combine to give confusing messages: one double spread headed ``What Is Dying?'' shows a hospitalized child; the accompanying text reads, ``When you are in the hospital, visits from friends are very important.'' But is the girl dying? Do visitors make dying easier? Another page, headed ``Why are people afraid of death?'' shows tightrope walkers with the caption, ``Some people get excitement out of risking their life [sic]...'' Sanders also observes that people are often afraid of things they know little about, adding, ``However today there is more information about death''--but he never discusses what new information might make death less frightening. Colorful, but too muddled to be useful. Glossary; index.~(Nonfiction. 7-10)
