“Can you sense the beauty?” Pinkney weaves this through a collection of engaging pictures with minimal text in English with Spanish translations. Subtle language lessons are made more engaging by their pairings with bright photos of happy people, mostly children. Some words are simple—“hermana,” “adios”; others, more playfully complex—“batido de platano” (banana milkshake). The pictures, 27 in all, show an array of happy, adorable children in a variety of situations and poses.
