KIRKUS REVIEW

A violin-playing orangutan stars in this feeble story about courage and fidelity. On a trip to visit his Uncle Darwin, Bobo drinks from a glass, an implement he has never seen before. It is one of the many marvels his uncle brought home from his travels, made by humans--``Keep away from them!'' cautions Uncle Darwin. ``If they catch you, they'll make you into soup. Or they'll stuff you.'' But when Uncle Darwin gets sick, only human medicine will help him. Bobo bravely sets off to obtain it, meets and befriends a boy named Pico, who is out painting in the forest, and gets the medicine. Romanelli misses every opportunity to create suspense from Bobo's daring, and Pico's repeated use of the phrase, ``Super,'' is oddly out of step with the forest setting. (Picture book. 5-8)
