Bart is a little terrier who lives in a huge apartment building in New York City with his owner, Max. Bart has a bit of an attitude, as all terriers do, and he wants to get off his leash and enjoy the sights of the city, as all dogs do. Bart tells his story in first-person narration (“I’m outta here!”) as he scampers away from his owner just before Christmas. Bart explores the subway, rides the Staten Island Ferry and jumps on stage to dance with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. After touring other major sights of the city, Max decides that he misses his owner, and the traveling terrier finds his own way back to his apartment building for a reunion in time for dinner. Computer-generated illustrations provide suitably crisp representations of the city scenes, with some layered, almost 3-D effects of people and cars on the streets. A map of Max’s journey is included on the endpapers. (Picture book. 4-8)
