Country music star Lainey Wilson has joined the cast of the upcoming film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him, Variety reports.

Hoover’s novel, published by Montlake Romance in 2022, follows Kenna, a woman released from prison after serving a sentence for killing her boyfriend, Scotty. Kenna gave birth to Scotty’s child while she was in prison, and custody of the baby was given to Scotty’s parents; after her release, she falls in love with Scotty’s best friend, Ledger.

A critic for Kirkus wrote of the novel, “With captivating dialogue, angst-y characters, and a couple of steamy sex scenes, Hoover has done it again.”

Wilson, known for hit singles including “Things a Man Oughta Know” and “Watermelon Moonshine,” will make her film debut in the movie; she previously acted in five episodes of the hit television series Yellowstone.

The Reminders of Him film is being written by Hoover and Lauren Levine and directed by Vanessa Caswill (Love at First Sight). Maika Monroe (It Follows, Longlegs) will star as Kenna, while Ledger will be played by Tyriq Withers (Tell Me Lies, The Game).

Other cast members include Bradley Whitford (Get Out), Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls), Nicholas Duvernay (The White Lotus), and Rudy Pankow (Outer Banks). The film is scheduled for release on February 13, 2026.
