Michelle Pfeiffer is the latest addition to the cast of the Apple TV+ adaptation of Rufi Thorpe’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Variety reports.
Thorpe’s novel, published in June by Morrow/HarperCollins, follows Margo, an unemployed 20-year-old woman who has a baby, the result of her affair with an English professor, and then finds success as an OnlyFans model. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus wrote of the novel, a finalist for this year’s Kirkus Prize, “Terrific characters, rich worldbuilding, deep thoughts about fiction and morality, a love story, and a happy ending.”
Pfeiffer, a three-time Oscar nominee for Dangerous Liaisons, The Fabulous Baker Boys, and Love Field, will play Margo’s mother, a Hooters waiter. She joins previously announced cast members Elle Fanning (The Great, The Girl From Plainville), who will play Margo, and Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Cold Mountain), whose role has not yet been announced.
The series adaptation is being written by David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Big Little Lies), who will also serve as showrunner. Kelley will executive produce alongside Fanning, Kidman, and Pfeiffer.
Pfeiffer shared news of her casting on Instagram, writing, “2025 is already off to a great start! Excited to be in such fabulous company on this one.”
