Goldie Hawn and Lin Oliver are teaming up on a children’s book—the first in a planned series—coming in 2026.
Penguin Workshop will publish The After-School Kindness Crew: Pooch on the Loose, written by Hawn and Oliver and illustrated by Breanna Chambers, next spring, according to a news release. The press calls the book and its planned sequels “an inspiring series about friendship, community, and the power of kindness, encouraging readers to take breaks and deep breaths as they read along!”
Hawn, the Oscar-winning actor known for her roles in films including Cactus Flower, Private Benjamin, and The First Wives Club, is the author of an autobiography, A Lotus Grows in the Mud, and a nonfiction book, 10 Mindful Minutes. Oliver has co-written several children’s books with actor Henry Winkler.
The After-School Kindness Crew: Pooch on the Loose will follow three fourth graders who are celebrating their school’s “Surprise Us Day” and are brought together by a dog looking for its forever home. Penguin Workshop says the book will contain “brain breaks,” described as “guided breathing exercises that allow the reader to pause, take a breath, and collect their thoughts.”
“I want to create these relatable stories to remind children of the power of kindness, while giving them moments of laughter and calm,” Hawn said in a statement. “The brain breaks woven throughout each book invite children to pause, breathe, and reconnect with joy. What could be better?”
The After-School Kindness Crew: Pooch on the Loose is scheduled for publication on May 5, 2026.
