THE HAIR SCARE by Jeffrey Fisher
Released: Nov. 1, 2005

Setting a new standard for inane self-indulgence, this aimless, incomprehensible effort from a graphic designer pairs an opaque plot to postmodern illustrations constructed, seemingly, from feathers and finger-paints. Everyone is pleased with the coiffures they receive from young Radbert—except for the King, who's so outraged by his that he bans all haircuts. He relents only after everyone in the kingdom has become a hairy menace, whereupon Radbert angrily clips the royal hair into a bird that carries him away. Ending in mid-thought with an ellipse, this is likely to engender little response in readers beyond wild gusts of indifference. (Picture book. 6-8)Read full book review >
