Introductory material provides the inquiring parents with basic principles relating to choice of books for children at all levels of age and interest and the responsibility of the parents for directing their children into channels that will make not only readers but good readers. The case is presented for Fairy Tales and Fantasy, for Poetry, even for the often maligned Series. The importance of capturing reading interest through activity interests and hobbies is balanced by a few salient facts on tests of value in fact books. The building of the Home Library is discussed in relation to the use of the school and public library and some keys to the solution of how to find space for books are offered. Immediately preceding the lists is a page of suggestions as to how to use them. There is a carefully selected descriptive listing of over 2,000 books, arranged by age levels, activities and the arts, religious books, reference books. Then follows a section listing over 300 books for parents about family life, with some pertinent comments on how to use the lists. A Bibliography, List of Sources and a dual index (author and title) are included. This is the best investment one could make in this field.
