This is a new edition of this indispensable volume and there are many new features: among them a sizeable increase in its full-color maps (twice as many maps of Africa and new maps of Switzerland and the Soviet Union; 14 pages of shaded relief maps; a 27 page section of historical maps of various eras). Particularly timely will be a new 16 page inset on ""The Saga of Space"" and the listing of some 1000 colleges and universities, by states, with brief descriptive comments. It is, as always, a handsome book with a tremendous range of information.
