Here is the story of one man, seen through his relationship with three women. The man is Robert, cool, correct, worlily, somewhat a Don Juan in his perpetual search for a woman who will hold him. There is his wife, a fine figurehead, but little else; there is one of his mistresses, who parallels his restless sensualism; there is Nina, who understands him best -- but who ironically fails. Well done -- not for conservatives.
