KIRKUS REVIEW

Old know there were 4 winerics in California alone? And a goodly number in other parts of the country New York, Ohio, and briefly other sections comprise about one third of this survey; California the balance. After a short introductory section, the author takes up -- alphabetically -- the leading wineries, where wines are at or by the producer. A guide in an uncharted field, this tells what they produce, how they taste, their names, their coats. Brief space in each section takes the on a wine tour of the district. The last chapter deals with dining with wines, at home and in restaurants, and cooking with wines.
