KIRKUS REVIEW

Cagey cogitating with the expected local color as Sherriff Jess Roden pits wits with another cool customer. The author plays his cards close to the chest but the reader gets an over-the-shoulder chance to kibitz on the detecting via an intermittent sottovoce review of the events within the unknown murderer's mind. Good counterpoint in technique, a steady market.
