KIRKUS REVIEW

A splendid anthology which, despite the price, ought to find the welcome mat out in front of many young adult departments. Culled from the widest possible reaches of European and American writing the passages have been divided into sections, each with its theme, and they span the age of flight from first musings and inventions to today's fantastic speeds and accomplishments. Dos Passos, Kafka, Lindbergh, Langweische, Jules Roy and Elizabeth Bowen -these are but a token sample of the many names and the different elements, literary and scientific, they imply.
