The title poem appeared in F. P. A's column and then reached a wider public when read over the radio by Alexander Woollcott. Now for the first time included in a collection of Arthur Guiterman's verse. There is a definite Guiterman market; these belong with his lyrics and outdoor verse rather than his lighter humorous verse, thought there are a number with an undercurrent of irony, a suggestion of satirizing moods and custom.
