SHELL COLLECTOR'S HANDBOOK by A. Hyatt Verrill

SHELL COLLECTOR'S HANDBOOK

By

Pub Date: May 26th, 1950
Publisher: Putnam

A handbook that combines data for identification and factual information, based on the questions amateur collectors ask:- how sea shells are formed, their names, both scientific and ""beach"" names; where they are found; their protection and camouflage; the habits of shells; their uses and value; how to make a collection. The last six chapters take the main shells identified with six chief shell areas. Not an exhaustive coverage, but an excellent book to follow Hylander's Sea and Share (Macmillan), reported on P. 135.
