KIRKUS REVIEW

The campaign for Canada during the Revolutionary War was the responsibility of a young general only recently departed from England: Robert Montgomery, who replaced General Schuyler and died on the last day of 1775. Studiously well-written, this account of his short American career describes the battles involved chronologically using quotations from old letters to aid the presentation of personalities and of strategy. A little light on an obscure figure.
