KIRKUS REVIEW

A writer who knows his football and has pretty well covered the field in a long list of other sports stories (under the pen name of Arthur Mann, as well) explores grid tactics at a small mid-western college. Definitely a players' book, it tells of teamwork, and the plans for a new system as they are worked on by coach Carter and his star backfield Sandy Riddle- a powerful pair. And in spite of rivals with supposedly superior ways, they win out, to the glory of brains as well as brawn.
