A book of short, short stories dealing with the Sarde people which are unusual in conception and execution, handled with great artistry. The stories deal with those in every walk of life, peasant, tramp, officer and nobleman and the emphasis is psychological rather than external. Every type of situation and relationship is covered with great insight and delicacy. The prose is poetic and fluent and the entire collection is amazingly well sustained. Do not miss it.
