KIRKUS REVIEW

A Southern Tyrolean reconstructs the life of Schubert not only with authority, but with great feeling and sympathy. This is a well-proportioned biography, as man and music evolve gradually with enough of the personal life of the musician to hold the interest of any general reader. She gives an interesting close-up not only of the man, but also of his friends, associates, and of the period.
