THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY

The author of this unusual book takes a rather dim view of the Christian conception of God current in these middle years of the twentieth century. It is, he says, so decadent as to be utterly beneath the dignity of the Most High God and actually to constitute for professed believers something amounting to a moral calamity. Mr. Tozer writes his book to help correct this desperate situation. He explores and explains reverently, devotionally, and often rapturously, the attributes of God and their meaning in Christian life. He points to the majesty of God, seeking to restore to men their lost religious awe and consciousness of the divine Presence. He would strengthen their ability to withdraw, inwardly, to meet God in adoring silence. The book is theologically ""sound"", but its purpose is not so much to teach men of God but to stir their hearts to seek after God himself. Therefore he can write of such attributes as Self-existence, Infinitude, Omniscience, Transcendence, Omnipresence, Justice, Love, Mercy, Holiness and Sovereignty, in a way that makes then understood by any reader who would seek after the God who is the Father of Jesus Christ.
