Frits is a West German economist, a Christian and a socialist; here he has given us an interesting and informative crystal ball reading of our globular future, its paradise . Most of the articles (there's a journalistic flavor to the whole business) are the facts and figures sometimes disturbing, sometimes and the ""message"" another of those wake-up-mankind-it's later-than you-think exhortations. Generally like this, especially if the Sino-Soviet threat is played up, are imperative for responsible citizens. Dr. Bande's should be even more so, since his balance or wonders about sleight-of hand. Thus while hots for parliamentary government and regulated ""capitalism"" and wishes the free and distribution of food, labor management, energy and win the nations he can also accept Khrushehev's ""radical"" proposals, walls is economic necessity China's forced mass communes in its rosy Leap Forward, believe not only the quantitative balance of the world's population (6 to 6.5 billion by AD 2000) but also that its economic potential will favor the Communist bloc, and then go on to say the problem of co-existence is really just a psychological one. There's enough room for everybody, we must all learn to ""Love thine enemy"" and revitalize Christian concepts. The Common Market, the inventive implications of America's ever-evolving consumer-geared industries, and the conflicting reports on Red agricultural progress are among the issues Dr. Baade's predictions and graphic patterns do not grapple with very closely. Nevertheless, a good all-shook-up-but-not-quite book, perfect for a ""nation of sheep"".
