Another standard brand ABC for Gay York, about to come into her inheritance, is murdered and Sheriff Jess Roden is left with a slew of people who stand to profit by doing her in. After interminable tracking around with and without dogs, Roden comes up with the answers, but not in time to prevent the ghostly goings-on at Gay's wake and the murder of her brother. A mite more interesting than usual -- but not much.
