More S&M pornography from the author of The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty (1983)--this time with a largely homosexual emphasis. Princess Beauty whimpers--in pain and pleasure--throughout whipping, paddling, gang-rape, threesomes. . . and feline cunnilingus. (""But the cat was being lifted. . . she felt those silky ears and that fur between her legs, and the tongue darting at her distended clitoris. . .the pleasure jetted through her, mingling with the loathing of the hairy little feline and its horrid mindless feasting."") Meanwhile, Beauty's beloved Prince Tristan is penetrated with leather-covered phalluses, forced to wear one permanently; there's oral sex, public paddling, penis-manacling, pleasure/pain sex with his ""Master,"" and all too much more--as Prince T. repeatedly discovers that he likes this training in anal sex. Roquelaure is a ""famous"" woman writer ""whose identity must remain a secret""; her dank, repetitious sexual-abuse fantasies would better have been kept secret too. As it is, this series is one of the more embarrassing (if negligible) phenomena in recent mainstream publishing.
