PEACE PIPES AT PORTAGE

For slightly older children than most of her books, this too deals with a factual background and gives a human touch to a bit of our country's history. The hero of the story is a foster son of William Clark, explorer, and the period is that when Clark was trying to cement the friendship of the Indians after the close of the War of 1812. Good adventure against a sound pioneer background.
