THE MYSTERY OF THE FIFTEENTH CYPRESS

A home has been in the Brooke family for over 200 years, and when the twins know it must be sold, they are determined to save it. They set out to discourage prospective buyers by haunting the house -- and the tables are turned and they in turn are haunted. They find the culprit -- and a long buried treasure, which saves the home. Indiana background -- local and Civil War background. The girl outthinks the boy, which would seem to make it primarily a girl's book. A slight mystery -- not a horror story. Fair enough.
