The life of Henry Ford as a dream come true, with no distracting rumbles from labor, no idiosyncratic animus or thwarted ambition. The boy tinkerer who envisioned an inexpensive horseless carriage toils until he has a working model, goes into manufacture, increases production to one a minute, increases wages to $5 a day, grows rich, spends less time at the plant, more on historic preservation (Wayside Inn, Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village). Integral with the rise of Ford is his development of the assembly line, clearly explicated here. Standard transmission semi-legend, better fabricated and finished than some.
