THE GOWN OF GLORY

A good family story- in a period piece about a small town minister and his family. There's a sort of Little Women and Five Little Peppers flavor in the gay and gallant acceptance of financial stringency, of family managing in order to give those who deserve it a chance. Lucy, still in her teens, is almost more the heroine than her mother, and her romance with the son of a steel magnate provides a thread throughout the story. And the background of small town life, the problems a minister and his wife face, and the very human incidents that endear each of the young people to the reader make this a good choice for teen reading.
