BATTERY FOR MADISON HIGH

One opens this baseball story with hopes that its loose-limbed lanky style sets the pace for a different sort of yarn. And that humor and leisurely give and take will prevail throughout. But the opening pages don't carry through. The tall twins, Barry and Phil, work their way through Senior High to a championship, with the usual round of team squabbling, bids from college scouts, trumped up exam cheating episode, Phil winning out in rivalry with a mean catcher, and a final decision to go to Yale. Stock number of facets on this diamond.
