GLENN CURTISS: Founder of Aviation

The latest edition to the Julian Messner Shelf of Biographies, this, like Million Miler will be illustrated with photographs. There will be an introduction by Rear Admiral John H. Towers, Chief of the Bureau of Aeronautics, U.S.N. Today we are proud of and dependent on our Curtles P 40s and the Navy's Curtiss dive bomber but these are just the newer of a long line of superb planes designed and built by a great aviator and inventor. In 1907, Dr. Alexander Graham Bell persuaded the young manufacturer of motorcycles to join a group who were determined to experiment with aviation. He invented the lleron, the tricycle landing gear and the VB water-cooled motor, and much else. All boys are keen to know more about the world of flying--hand them this.
