The Fernalds, whose crop was ruined by rain, find the answer to their prayers in the blue flame of the fireplace, and driftwood logs provide a new living: the Damasch' save the life of their child by going to the Mojave desert and penniless, a formicary constructed for their child is the start of a career; a teacher, through prayer, sins her children's interest and respect; an alcoholic is helped to take his last drink; a group of teen age hot rodders are given a reason to get off the streets; etc. etc. Most of these stories demonstrate the power of prayer to bring material success as well as spiritual salvation, and confidence walks hand in hand with faith. The publishers too are confident and there will be a first edition of 25,000 as well as substantial promotion.
