The author of many nature study books here gives a simple life cycle account of the Herring Gull, the most common gull found on United States coastal territory and lake shores. She focuses on two gulls, Greywings and Big Greywings, and very briefly (and a little too sweetly) describes their courtship and mating abits. The young hatch, grow swiftly and after only six weeks are independent... the print is large; the text is written in simple words easily within the grasp of slow readers. The adequate pictures by Marie Nonmast in black and white with uches of sea green are accurate.
