FAMOUS FLAWS

An amusing account of the bald pates, missing teeth, myopic eyes, cauliflower ears, extra toes, hooked beaks, pockmarks, limps, hemorrhoids, and other minor physical fallings that have plagued (more often, it seems, than not) famous gentlemen and ladies through the ages. The intent is to cheer every one of us who looks in a mirror and doesn't like what's there. After all, Clark Gable and Fred Astaire barely got a screen test due to their jug handle ears, England fought a war for Jenkins' missing one, the American presidency regularly falls to the toothless, epileptics have a good chance of conquering the earth (Alexander, Caesar, Napoleon), even the divine Cleopatra was bald. Loomer's breezy style suits her subject, warts and all.
