The author is herself a successful journalist, but one wonders whether her career was such a whirlwind success story as that she presents in the story of 22-year old Judy, reporter for the New York Mercury. She begins as copygirl at 17, works her way through college, Columbia's School of Journalism, and the Mercury echelons, until- in a space of five years- she is appointed foreign correspondent. Abroad, exciting things happen, as she is involved in investigating a plot against the princess of a small principality. In this incident she meets an A.P. man, Andy, who persuades her to stop work and marry him and become an ""old fashioned girl"" and a topnotch housekeeper. Unrealistic on all counts, this wish fulfillment career-romance.
