CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND CONTROL

A vicious playback of the events of a few days which provoke floundering Ollie Cooke to murder, begins with his decision to break off with Norma to marry Joan- who may hold his job (he's a radio announcer) for him; continues through Norma's suicide, and his failure to try and save her; and ends with the needle applied by Schuyler Tait, who loathes him for his cowardice and whose merciless pursuit unnerves him altogether.... Unappetising and unforgiving, this is also cool and calculated to hold your attention.
