In this symposium sixteen educators discuss the role of religion in our institutions of higher learning. As the whole problem of the mutual relationships of education and religion is under intensive reexamination it is indeed timely to have this discussion brought to us by such a distinguished group of educators, all of whom are active in the National Council on Religion in Higher Education. The contributors are not concerned with subsidiary issues such as the relation of Church and State, or questions affecting curriculum. Rather, this book deals with fundamental presuppositions, criteria and values. The writers are concerned to discover the place of religion in the whole philosophy of education. A scientist, a historian, a sociologist, a teacher of the humanities, a psychologist, a philosopher as well as a college president and dean are among the contributors. Of interest to Protestant leaders and educators.
