ROUGH CUT

A transparent peek inside the boob tube industry in which neither money nor fame but ""power"" is the name of the game. The brawling, bailing protagonist, Mike ""Buck"" McLeod, is a troublesome 47-year-old actor who's desperate enough to do anything to return to the limelight as the creator-producer and star of his own private eye series. Even abandon his true love Tabitha--an actress who realizes he's really an artist under his ""dumb, jock, macho mask""--so he can marry ""America's Sweetheart"" Honey Holly, the boss of a $30 million TV empire with a yen for ""spade cornerbacks."" McLeod gets his show and a good deal more than he'd bargained for in the form of a back-stabbing business manager and some perverse network execs. That's when his thoughts turn to murder. . . and when you'll more than likely be prompted to give your favorite idiot box a half nelson.
