CALICO ROUNDS

A companion to these authors' earlier book, Eight Yards of Calico (1952), which concentrated on square dancing, takes round and folk dancing for its subject and follows a teaching program through a half dozen outlines of rhythms and steps. The patterns of the two step, polka, scottische, gavotte, waltz and mazurka begin with the easier examples, work up to more difficult performances. There is a listing of phonograph recordings suitable for each dance and there will be 16 pages of photographs. This should be an excellent guidebook for group leaders, dancing organizations and young people's social evenings.
