SWEET SIXTEEN

A sequel to County Fair and Hickory Hill takes Jane Ellison through some more problematical months on a corn belt farm. Inexplicably sad at the end of her sophomore year in high school, Jane finds herself griping too often about the things other people do, feeling jealous of her younger sister Judy who gets good marks at school, and so forth. But a change or two in the routine, the most important of which is the arrival of a new teacher, with romantic problems of her own, make a change in Jane too. Not the deepest of reading matter, but an easy-to-take tonic for the teens.
