A self-dedicatory portrait of the stylist, the sculptor of my lady's hair-do's whose scalp treatments have earned him the renown and reverence of the elite. Polish born, Antoine at eight set his sister's hair with honey, secured her a following of bees and started himself on his career. In Paris at 17, he achieved success with his ""hats of hair, cancades""; he entered avidly the world of exaggerated chic and chi chi. His first salon -- the birth of the ""sculptured curl"" -- the introduction of bobbed hair -- his international establishments -- his New York and Hollywood visits. In between, intimacies of his clientele, royal, theatrical, artistic, social. His own caprices which included a glass house, a white s frock coat, and at all times, white flowers to inspire proper atmosphere for his work. As you can see, fairly floral, occasionally offensive, but with a certain snob appeal the publishers plan to capitalize.
