YOU CAN BE A PLUMBER

Liebers stresses the diversity of the present day plumbing industry, which works with cooling and heating systems as well as water supply and drainage, the variety of positions available, the opening of the field to women and the attractive opportunities in an occupation where the average practitioner today is fifty years old and working up through the ranks is usual. And of course he hardly needs to stress the pay scale. All this makes plumbing look like a good career bet even after the realistic warnings about physical discomfort and extensive classroom study, and his blend of practical information (aptitude tests, tools of the trade, apprentice program directory) with patient encouragement is likely to be just as functional as it was in You Can Be a Carpenter (KR 1973).
