THE LITTLE ELEPHANT

Two Little Bears, The Duck and other picture stories by the famed animal photographer Ylla, who was killed last year, set the pattern for this, which is as engaging and entertaining as the others. A baby Indian elephant, Japu, dreams of being in a parade with his mother and father, and, inspired by his ambitions, plays vigorously with his young friends in the river. When the parade is at last ready, Japu is chosen to lead it. The photographs capitalize on humorous animal movements as well as festivity preparations and quite thoroughly endear their subjects to the reader. Weak stitching trade edition.
