MY YOUNG FRIEND ADOLF HITLER

Like Vorkuta, this presents valuable source material on another of the world's outstanding ills- in an adult context of advantage to young people who are beginning to study them. It is the personal story of an adolescent friendship and follows the path of Hitler from his meeting with the author in Linz to their separation several years later in Vienna. Their relationship reveals Hitler's family history, his infatuation with a girl he would not meet, his early evident Nationalist and Anti-Semitic views, the call of destiny which he felt after seeing Rienzi. Above all, there is the demanding personality that required exclusive attention from Kubizek, a malleable soul who, despite Hitler, did well in his conservatory studies.
