PATCHWORK

With the revival of interest in patchwork -- as commercial firms put out complete units for making patchwork quilts, skirts, etc. -- this book recording its history, the development of certain patterns, and the how-to of cutting and using templates, techniques of preparation and procedure, may find a market, in the needlework field. The fact that the emphasis is on English patchwork, with only passing mention given the American developments and applications, and no mention made of patchwork as a needlecraft of long standing on the European continent (not to mention the Orient), limits the authoritative value of this book. Definitive, therefore, only in so far as applied to England, and there almost wholly of the last 200 years.
