VOICES LONG HUSHED

They're just all over like benign polyps; even if this one is a Crime Club selection, it's pure gothic. Orphaned Eustacia leaves Back Bay Boston for her original home in Mississippi where her mother (said to have killed her father--said to have been criminally insane) is alive in the custody of her aunt Mignon who's not very cute. Nor are the two murders (a cousin, a black girl) to follow. The story's just a variant of a cliche and it's adorned with innumerable others.
